Senior IT Lead (Networking, Remote Hands Support)

Location: Boston, USA

Position Description

This role will ensure the stability and integrity of ShipIn’s product on premise deployment,including remote Linux computer systems, data, video, and network services. This will be achieved by acquiring product knowledge, planning, designing, and deploying remote computer systems, networks and attached devices. In addition, you will participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all computer and network systems hardware, software, and communication links. You will also analyze and resolve Linux systems computer network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

You will also be the focus point for the Tier 2 technical support team, management of IT related tasks and provide supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux systems in physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, WAPs, firewalls, routers, VPNs, ISP connectivity, and various field network technologies.
  • Monitor system and network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Maintain system software (upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations)
  • Manage DHCP, DNS, certificate authorities, and other related security and authentication systems.
  • Coordinate and install updates, patches, and new releases and perform any preventive maintenance necessary to ensure reliable and secure hardware and software operation in the area of responsibility.
  • Create and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures in the area of responsibility.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and comply with internal policies and procedures, applicable regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
  • Create and maintain complete end-user documentation, systems and network diagrams, operational and process flow diagrams, troubleshooting, and maintenance reports.
  • Collaborate as a IT Operations team lead, sharing information, mentoring, cross-training, and providing coverage as directed by the supervisor.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Superiors.

Qualifications / Experiences

  • Degree in IT related field and to hold a valid CCNP certification or have a minimum 7 year proven CISCO Networking and Linux administration experience.
  • Sound technical skills and experience in software and hardware involved in operations of local area networks (LANs) and wide-area networks (WANs) and various network protocols.
  • Experience in monitoring, reporting, and alerting tools. i.e. Prometheus, Grafana, Zappix and PagerDuty.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux Systems and Bash Shell scripting.
  • Knowledge of  advanced Linux concepts (eg. systemd, K8s, selinux, iptables, lvm) is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a remote environment to meet the expectations of the job functions.
