Position Description

This role requires a good understanding of IT Technology and networking, focusing on PoE switches, IP cameras and Network Video Recorders (NVR’s). 
This will include setting up, monitoring, troubleshooting and diagnosing issues and providing support to customers.  You will work with both technical and non-technical staff supporting users at all levels to troubleshoot and resolve issues and it is required to establish a good working relationship with customers, always communicating in a professional and supportive manner.
Furthermore you will be required to document all incidents and compile clear and detailed notes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure and maintain PoE switches, IP cameras and Network Video Recorders (NVRs).
  • Monitor PoE switches and IP cameras and network performance and ensure system 24/7 uptime.
  • Knowledge of system performance and uptime monitoring with the use of Grafana Monitoring Tool.
  • Use of the JIRA ticketing system to resolve issues and provide an adequate description of actions taken for resolution.  
  • Collaborate as a member of the IT Operations team, sharing information and providing coverage as directed by the supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection legislation.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Superiors. 

Experience and Skills Required:

  • You will have relevant experience gained in a similar role in IT, security or CCTV installation, through work experience, or hold a qualification in a relevant subject. 
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written are required. You must be able to provide clear and easy to follow instructions to customers over the email or even through phone.
  • Good technical knowledge and a positive approach to any issues is required, in addition to a commitment to delivering an excellent service to all customers.
  • You will be customer focused, have strong problem-solving skills and pay close attention to detail.
  • You will be able to make accurate judgements and recognise the urgency of each issue, handling cases appropriately on a priority basis, and working to deadlines.
  • You will be proactive, self-motivated and be able to work alone as well as within a team.
  • Proven skills and experience in software and hardware involved in operations of local area networks (LANs) and wide-area networks (WANs) and various network protocols.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux System Administration and bash script execution.
  • Experience in monitoring, reporting, and alerting tools such as Grafana and similar tools.
  • Ability to work in a remote environment to meet the expectations of the job functions.
